The term of the Implementing Agreement for a Cooperative Programme on Smart Grids (ISGAN) ("Technology Collaboration Programme for Smart Grids, or ISGAN TCP") was due to expire on 28 February 2017. The Executive Committee of ISGAN was held on 16-18 September in Lecco (Italy) and voted unanimously in favor of requesting an extension of ISGAN for the period 1 March 2017 to 28 February 2022.
In accordance with the procedures of IEA, ISGAN submitted an End-of-Term Report, a RfE Questionnaire and a Strategic Work Plan (together the "Supporting Documentation"). Having evaluated the submitted documents, the IEA Committee on Energy Research and Technology ("CERT") finally approved the request for extension of ISGAN for the next five years.
According to the feedback from IEA, ISGAN is a well-organized TCP with an impressive amount of high-quality outputs and achievements. Compared to the hard starting phase new Annexes and activities have been successfully established to broaden the scope.
Entering second period, ISGAN will seek to become a role model for IEA TCPs and a best practice initiative for the continued success of the CEM.
